The International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) held its 27th edition in Barcelona after a decade without landing in Europe, as the event is hosted in a different city each year. This edition, driven by UOC and DARTS Research Group, brought together a community of more than 750 experts in art, science, and technology, as well as national and international digital artists. ISEA2022 Barcelona offered the general public a wide range of open activities, including workshops, conferences, and performances. Additionally, its programming extended to various locations across Barcelona and Catalonia, resulting in an impact of over 45,000 attendees, including participants, audiences, and visitors.
Under the theme “Possibles,” the proposals for ISEA2022 Barcelona were organized into four sub-themes: the first, “Humans and Non-Humans,” delved into our relationship with machines and animals; the second, “Natures and Worlds,” explored climate change and the feasibility of living beyond Earth; the third sub-theme, “Futures and Heritages,” considered the role of history and the excess of data; and finally, “Educations and Societies” addressed challenges such as embracing art as part of scientific and technical knowledge.
